Scoped first, then quoted

Something else

Five shapes cover most small businesses and they do not cover all of them. Rather than file your project as whichever one is least wrong and discover the mismatch in week four, this is the one that starts with a conversation and a written scope. Sometimes that conversation ends with us saying you want something we are not the right people to build.

Suits: Membership sites, multi-location businesses, internal tools, unusual integrations, and anything where the first honest sentence is that it depends.

Depends on scope

This one is scoped before it is priced. You still get one fixed number in writing, but only once we both know what is being built.

What we actually do.

  1. 01

Work out what it actually is

A call about the business and the problem, not about the website. A surprising number of these turn out to be one of the five shapes with an unusual label on it, which is cheaper for you and we will say so.

  2. 02

    Write the scope down

What is being built, what it does, what it does not, and what we need from you. Before any price. A scope agreed in writing is the only thing that makes a fixed price safe for either of us.

  3. 03

    Then quote it, once

One number, fixed, against that scope. If we get the estimate wrong that is our problem rather than a change order. If the scope changes, we requote rather than pretending it has not.

What is included

  • A conversation about whether we are the right studio at all
  • A written scope before any number is discussed
  • A fixed price once the scope is agreed
  • The same hosting, care, and dashboard as everything else

Pages it usually ends up with

  • Whatever the work turns out to need
  • Usually fewer than you think

Your dashboard

  • HostingYour site is served, monitored, and backed up. Every tenant has this.

What this does not include.

Named up front, because the expensive version of this conversation is the one that happens in week four.

  • A price before a scope — the whole point of this route is that one cannot exist without the other
  • Work we are not qualified for; we will say so and, where we can, point you at someone who is
  • Native mobile apps, which we do not build

Several of these are available as add-ons. They are priced against your site rather than from a list, which is why there is no number next to them on the services page.

Start with a conversation.

Forty five minutes, no charge, and no obligation. We will tell you what we would build, roughly what it costs, and whether you need it at all.
